What I migrate

  • Content: pages, posts, products, users, images and files, moved and checked, not just copied.
  • Old addresses: each old URL redirected to its new home, so links and search rankings carry over.
  • Data from other systems: imported with custom scripts when there's no ready-made tool. I've written importers for everything from old databases to museum collection XML.
  • Hosting and email: moved to a new provider with careful planning, so nothing is lost in the switch.

Done carefully

A good migration is mostly planning. I map everything on the old site before moving anything, run the migration on a copy, check it with you, and only then switch over. The old site stays available until you're happy.

  1. Map

    Every page, file, form and integration on the current site, written down before anything moves.

  2. Plan

    Where everything goes, how old addresses redirect, and when the switch happens.

  3. Migrate on a copy

    Content and data moved to the new site while the old one keeps running.

  4. Check with you

    We go through the new site together and fix anything that needs it.

  5. Switch over

    Domains, hosting and email moved at a planned time.

  6. Follow up

    I watch Google Search Console after the switch and fix any missed redirects.

Questions

Will I lose my Google rankings?

Not if it's done properly. Every old address is redirected to its new page and the important search details carry over. After the switch I check Google Search Console for problems.

Can you move my email too?

Yes. I've moved email as part of hosting migrations, planned so messages keep arriving during the switch.

What happens to the old site?

It stays where it is until the new one is live and you're happy, so there's always a fallback.

Can you migrate from a system you haven't seen before?

Usually, yes. If there's no ready-made importer, I'll write one.
