What is a Claude skill?

Claude is an AI assistant made by Anthropic. A skill is a package of instructions, examples and tools that teaches Claude to do one particular job your way, every time. Instead of explaining a task from scratch and hoping for the best, you or your team simply ask for it, and Claude follows the process you've agreed.

Good jobs for a skill

• Turning notes or data into reports, proposals or quotes in your house style.
• Tidying, checking and reformatting spreadsheets and exports.
• Drafting replies, product descriptions or website content from your guidelines.
• Pulling information out of documents and putting it where it needs to go.
• Any repetitive task where someone follows the same steps each time.

How I build them

I start with the task as your team does it today, including the awkward cases and the things that usually go wrong. Then I write the skill, test it on real examples and refine it until the results are reliable. You get the skill, simple instructions for using it, and a clear idea of what it should and shouldn't be trusted with.
